2.2 A Typical Day at Magistral-mba

Classes are taught during the morning, being that the morning in Spain begins from the time one gets up until about 2 o’clock in the afternoon. The first class starts at 9am and ends at 10:30am. At this time there will be a 20 minute break so that students may have a cup of coffee in one of the many cafés in our city. The predominating focus of the first class will be upon linguistic comprehension by means examples of selected texts, listenings, images without text, etc, in order to give the student the required confidence he/she needs to be able to communicate, maintaining an intelligent conversation. Magistral-mba’s methodology is communicative and active, emphasizing the student’s participation in class in order to involve him/her from the get go.

The second class begins at 10:50am and lasts until 12:20pm where the student will have another break of 20 minutes. The second class is dedicated to study and investigation of the formal, grammatical, and verbal aspects and structures of the target language given the complexity and richness of the Spanish language.

The last class of the morning starts at 12:40pm and lasts until 2:10pm. The last class deals with carrying out practical exercises of the material learned in the previous two classes. This is a vital means of reinforcing what has been learned and with extensive practice, first being free-structured and then moving on to a more controlled review of the formal aspects of the language previously seen. It is important to realize that each class is structurally linked to the next to provide the most effective use of student’s time.

Extracurricular Activities:

During the afternoon, which begins after lunch, many extracurricular activities are offered and organized by Magistral-mba, each being related to the content of our courses in order to complement the classes. Activities include visits to companies, banks, newspaper headquarters, major hotels, hospitals, City Hall, Chamber of Commerces, etc. Also, we include cultural activities such as visits to museums, theaters, concerts and the like. The availability and scheduling of these cultural visits will depend upon the season and what is available in the community of Madrid.
